9n serial number

There appears to be a digit in front of the 9N88I, but it is not completely there. It looks like it might have been the upper part of an M. After the 8 is a roman numeral 1, or is it an I?

The brakes are free, but the clutch is stuck.
The PTO turns but the PTO lever and the 3pt lever will not move.

"upper part of an M. " Probably a 'star' Serial number should be *9Nxxx*.

"After the 8 is a roman numeral 1, or is it an I?" It is an 'I'. And it is in place of a '1'.

Also, Looks like you have CM Hall headlights and the original non pressurized radiator. Post some more pictures when you can.

Yep-Harold Cooke is correct. There is a star before and after the serial number. This was used on all Ford vehicles starting with the early V8's. Engine block serial number stamp sets had the letter "I" for numeral "1" and a lower case letter "b" for numeral "6" and flipped 180 degrees becomes numeral "9". In addition to the parts Harold clued in on, the hood has the provision for the snap-in battery cover; the radiator is early 9N with fill spout central on tank; but the rear wheel shows a riveted hub -should be smooth. Doe sit have a 4-spoke steering wheel, double rib fenders, small 2-wire generator, and square voltage regulator?

I think the steering wheel had three spokes. The gen. had two wires. The fenders might have two ribs and the regulator is square.
