Converted a MH 30 to 12volt. It starts good and charges good, but in a couple of days, it draws the battery down. Both wires going back to the alternator are hot to touch. Where should one start looking. I wired a least a dozen of these systems with no problem!

Deloc 10si?? If yes is the #2 wire from the plug going to the big charge post and the #1 wire going to the ignition switch with a diode etc in line

KCTractors.......guess what? HOT WIRES are telling you sumptin'. Me? I'd take yer alternator into an autoparts store for "free" check-out. I do NOT like the common 1-wire 12-volt alternator conversion. I like the 3-wire conversion as it is better regulated........electrical Dell

Yes, it is a 3-wire S-10. New alternator, #2 wire back to the big post on alternator, the big wire going to voltmeter, and #1 wire does not have a diode but does go to the ACC post on ignition switch.

pull the wire to #1, make sure that wire is not hot from the key when not running.

if it is. the battery will drain.

as a test. pull #1, if bat still drains.. charge it and pull alt, then see if bat drains. if no, take alt in for checkup
