Clean the grounds for the v/r.

Double check the wiring. Confirm that the battery is hooked up positive ground.

Polarize it per tip # 23.

WW2N.........yer 8N came from the factory 6-volt POSITIVE (+) ground with a 3-terminal squarecan voltage regulator under the oil pressure gauge. The voltage regulator is NON-ADJUSTABLE. ...BUT... it does need to be "polarized". Just arc-spark the side-by-side BAT and ARM terminals with a flat bladed screw driver. Engine OFF!!! Simple, eh? ......polarized Dell

Where the hell you been, though Big Foot got ya! Thanks. I been gone also but wont tell, LOL

No need to adjust a new voltage regulator unless you plan to use an 8V battery.

WW2N........naw, while I AM a BIG-FOOT (size 13's) but my kid brother was size 15's and was "almost" rejected for VietNam 'cuz they couldn't find boots big'nuff fer him. Army actually wanted him so bad, they had custom boots made for him. Sent him to 'Nam and handcuffed a box to his wrist and flew him all round 'Nam inna 'chopper.

During WW2, when everything was rationed (including leather), both my Dad (size 13) and Mom (size 11) almost went barefoot, 'cuz they couldn't buy shoes big'nuff. Same with clothes, Dad was 6'5" and Mom was 6'1". Me? I'ma runt at 5'11". Kid brother was 6'4". Mom's 2-brothers, one was 6'7", the other was 6'9" and somewhere I gotta picture of Dad sandwiched between the uncles. The 6'9" uncle met and married a 6'4" nurse in Hawaii. ........shrimpee Dell

(quoted from post at 22:15:01 10/16/14) The generator gets polarized, not the regulator. Just what part of the regulator do you think gets polarized?
ou have been around here long enough to Know that Dell always speaks in terms of polarizing AT THE REGULATOR even though it is the generator that is being polarized! Why the hate? Where is the love?

Correct police sirens maybe? LOL
On most regulators it is easier to touch the two terminals together
at the regulator than to explain another way. Maybe even safer.
Granted, it can be tough to reach.

Does this apply only to this post on this board? Or is it an admonishment in general?

Just trying to keep the newbies from disinformation. No hate involved. Maybe you can explain better than anyone else how a cut-out really works?????

ou may have stumbled upon one of my faults! That of trying to explain "how it works" to so many who don't really care about that..........they just want a short answer directing a 'fix'. (I don't care how the darn clock works! I just want to know the time of day!) Fo-4 does a credible job on cut out operation, in my opinion. I do agree on the disinformation, but was simply pointing out that Dell has been stating it that way for more than a decade & pretty sure he knows what is really happening. It parallels the "resistor inside the coil" words that raise eyebrows so often. Taint the fact, but the words appear all the time......technically incorrect, but to average Joe, it doesn't matter.

I find it hard to fix something if I don't know how it works. Some time ago Dell explained why the cut-out needed polarizing. I could see his line of thinking was wrong .Some time I will go into detail as to what is happening.

"I find it hard to fix something if I don't know how it works." Me too! By not understanding how it works, diagnostics will not take place & the method to get it working will be to keep throwing parts at it until one sticks.
