maybe should ask this in another forum, but you guys know a lot about everything.
I was wondering if they make weedeaters with customer adjustable carbs.
Everything in the local discount stores have no adjustable carbs. Everything is pretty well "Californicated" around here.
thanks,
Floyd

Last one I purchased was probably 3+ years ago - a mid grade Echo from either Lowes or HD and you can tweak it.....

Many sold are made for the end consumer to be maintenance free or dummy proof.
If you stick to the ones that the professionals use, they are adjustable and rebuildable. I prefer Stihl for my toys.

Heck if you are on a tractor forum why wouldn't you want to be able to adjust those carbs.

On 2-stroke engines,if you run it with a richer mix of oil as I do,you should increase the fuel mixture. My John Deere weed whacker runs great after 15+years of use. It has limiters on the adjustments for high and low jetting. I run a mix of 32/1 even though the recommended mix is 50/1. This leans out the high speed mixture and can lead to a seizure because of insufficient gas/air mixture. I enriched the high speed mix,and it still has the original plug and runs like new! When starting a 2 stroke engine, use the choke and run it until it starts to die, then run on 1/2 choke for about 30 seconds before using. This assures proper lubrication for the engine. I also kill the engine by choking it out, assuring that it has a good film of oil. I base this on my other hobby of rebuilding vintage dirtbikes.
