Interesting 8N solenoid setup (pic)

We've all seen them set up many ways, I saw this pic on CL
and thought it looked a bit different than most.
Apparently it gets the job done. Guess that's all that matters!

'floater'?
 
I see he's grounded it's base to the oil filter mount. Probably got the base wired to the oil line, as well!

Not exactly floating, looks like the buss bar is still there.
Possibly bolted to the block too?
I have a "non-standard" setup on one of my 8N's too.

I think some of those cheap new starters come
without the holes for the solenoid drilled. Thats
the reason for some the crazy solenoid setups.

I have had several new generators for Deeres that
came without holes for the regulator.
