Blackhawk Scoop

If you have dirt to dig or move then I suggest you buy it.
$75 is a good price.
But keep an eye out for one that is reversible. They are much more handy - for hauling rocks out of the garden, hauling your chainsaw and gas into the woods, shovels and rakes while gardening, etc.

Ditto what UD said. A very useful implement for an N. While a reversible one is more useful that is a good price for a scoop. Go get it. Here is video of one of mine at work.
Scoop at work

normally, Blackhawk brand tools were tough and top quality.

History lesson: named after the war chief Blackhawk who almost took his complete tribe to their death fighting the white man.

however, back to pond scoops: I have owned three over the years, two one ways and one two way.

the two way is much more useful.

I think Ford built a very good two way scoop and that this what I bought, you can find them for around $200 or less.
I do not think you will be sorry you bought a Ford.
I think the number is 706 or 806.
mine was blue when I got it but I painted it red, most all my farm implements are red.

What??
Painted it Red?
I have the same scoop only it's Blue.:)
I had a red one but found a blue one so I sold the first one to a friend to go on his 650.
They are good scoops.

I bought a ford and a dearborn 3pt scoops off Craigslist awhile back. They were asking 100 each and I got the pair for $45 after some jewing.. The dearborn is a drag scoop and the ford works both ways. I use the ford a lot, I can fill the bucket with AB3 Rock in one stab and it fills to the top. I love it, wouldn't want the 2N without that scoop... I would pay up to $200 depending on condition. Just remember the more you pay, the closer you are to the cost of adding live hydraulics and a front end loader... If you were in the Kansas area I would let my dearborn scoop go for a song...

I have been thinking about having them sandblasted and a nice coat of paint on them. Does anyone know what color the dearborn should of been? I am going to pain the Ford black already painted the handle red and the grip rubberized so I can see and hold it better..

I picked up a "Linebach Line" that looks just like the King Kutter at auction for $125. At first I was disappointed at how slow it was digging/moving dirt. Then I tried a shovel and the wheelbarrow...... Dirt scoop works great - the kids wanted to dig with dad so I gave em a seat and handlebars, they pull the rope to dump it.

I would love the have a reversible. But mine was free. I had the repair the release on it. But good bucket. Remote Hydraulics and a hydraulic top arm helps big time to haul bigger loads.

Yup. I can even bring it to the Jacktown show this weekend at no extra charge if you have an interest.

Thanks for the offer been keeping an eye out for a reversible, anyhow I am stuck down in NYC until next week working with a client.

(quoted from post at 01:16:34 10/14/14) I wouldn't get one unless it is reversible.
Reversible is good, but I've never used mine that way. Always was moving piles of something, never did an digging with it. So a cheap one way scoop is still very useable.

This dirt scoop is one of the easier ones to make
into a reversible that's why at this price I'm
surprised someone hasn't "scoop"ed it up.

Kirk,
It was an absolute pleasure meeting you today. Had a great time talking with you. I cant get over all of your toys.

Thanks much for the scoop. Another project that I now have to tackle.

Please keep me in mind about those tires.
