Resistor assembly screw removal

I am going to swap-out the resistor assembly on my 1948 8N. I anticipate that the screws will be rusted tight. Therefore, I am looking for some advice on how to remove them (I will replace them with new), ideally from someone who has had to replace theirs. I do not think heat would be appropriate with the gas tank so close and do not know if would be possible to use a hammer-type of impact screw driver (might not be enough room for to swing the hammer). Any suggestions?

Soak them with penetrating oil first, from both sides.
I used a screw driver that has a wrench grip on it.
A 90 degree screwdriver may work also.
If that doesn't work you may want to remove the hood
and gas tank so you can use the methods you mentioned.
Another option, that I have not tried, would be to remove
the wires, break the resistor and backing plate off the
screws and then use vice grips on the screws.
A bit extreme and may break the screws off.

like Royce said.
soak em, give em a whack with your beater screwdriver,
then good screwdriver with relentless downpressure so it doesn't slip, turn em out.
That is one thing I really like about old tractors over cars.
bolts, screws that look totally hopeless......come out...without breaking....
tough stuff.
Think positive.

I am no expert but the screws on my 48 8n came out easy with no pb blaster or mighty force. It sounds like you haven't tried yet but anticipate trouble you may be surprised. Like I say I am no expert just my experience.

Give it a try first. Mine was original and the screws came right out. Needed to remove the assy so I could replace the center nut and bolt cause they were rusted and spinning when I tried to tighten it.

Same here, the one on my 8N was original and they came right out too. Give it a shot first.
