Sure it has been asked before.
12V, Neg. Grd. NAA. 3 wire Gen.(I replaced the 6V with a 12V Gen. A few years ago)
Went out yesterday, and 1 wire from the Gen was broke. (not Batt wire) Repaired it with a splice.
Do I need to polarize? Put DVOM on Batt. show discharge.
I did do a quick search in archive, with no luck.
Thanks for any INFO.

not sure why you think you need to repolerize.

the pole pieces will hold their residual field for som time unless you drop them or change them or reverse the current thru them / run ac thru them...

drain on bat? put a test lamp inline with bat cable. if it's enough drain to light her up, start pulling conenctions one at a time till it goes away. if lamp is too much load, set yer ammetter to max scale and check it.. again. pull wires till draw goes away. last wire pulled is the source of the draw.
