9/2N oil filter design

This all started with no oil pressure on gage. I'm going thru a re-start process after letting tractor sit for 3 years. Oil filter was very dirty, sludgy, and some water. Removed it from tractor and gave it a thorough cleaning. Before putting it back on I wanted to bench test to prove oil would flow thru however oil does not reverse flow out the bottom inlet. Anybody ever take the center tube out?

The inlet is the fitting on the side that comes from the back of the engine. the bottom fitting goes to the gov housing or back to the pan if the line to gov is not there. The internal orifice is not very big so you will not get very much oil flow out of the bottom plug.

nd, additionally, oil pressure will be greater, by a bit, if your oil filter is totally plugged.

I don't have anything to add to the filter topic, but as to
the no oil pressure, did you prime the oil pump?

R Geiger; Thanks for the education, still learning after all this time. I had assumed the inlet was at the bottom. So that orifice or what ever is at the bottom of the tube must be plugged. I was trouble shooting backwards!!!. LOL

mall, 0.059" hole closer to top of center tube. Wire stuck in it in picture.

Now that finally makes sense (JMOR). Did not know about that small hole in tube. My FO-4 is unclear with the arrows. Many thanks.
