NAA Hammer revisited

Started taking it apart this afternoon.
The valve cover didn't really impress me much. There was
no water on the dipstick and none in the oil when I drained it.
One side of the head lifted by hand, gasket stuck on the other.

There are some differences in the valve appearance,
but it was the shiny spot on #4 that really caught my eye.
It lines up with the one on top of the piston.

When I crank it over by hand, as #4 piston passes TDC it pauses.
If I continue until it just starts to pull down and then press the
piston down with my finger it drops a quarter of an inch.

Maybe tomorrow I'll get the piston out and see what is going on.
On the bright side, all of the cylinder sleeves look good.

Well here's the culprit. Not going to get lucky on this one!
Crank measures 2.231 top to bottom and 2.265 side to side.
Anyone know the original spec off hand? My book's in the house.
