Is replacing the big main seal on the governor as simple as in bolting it and putting the new on? Or will more come lose? This is a 52 8n

Nope.

Disconnect the linkage, two bolts, and it falls right out. New seal and your good to go.

The leak may actually be in the governor plate, they're known for it. Only a few more bolts and you've got it licked too.

If you remove the governor, be sure to put the
short bolt back in the top hole when u re-
assemble..If leaking where it bolts to the block,
check it to see if it is warped-lots of them are
warped from overtightening..Once disassembled you
can usually true it up by sanding it back flat on
a sheet of sandpaper on a really flat
surface..then when bolting it back to the block
use a bead of ultra grey sealant and do not
overtighten and warp it again..This is one of the
few places where a little sealant is ok..Hope this
helps.

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and GUESS when you say "the big main seal" you mean the governor GASKET???

If so, scratch around the archives here a bit, as there's lots of posts about that gasket leaking and how to true up the governor housing, if needed.

I have trued up a few by doing just that. I run the governor housing in figure 8 patterns over progressive grits of metal oxide sandpaper that I lay across a thick sheet of glass. The glass makes for a perfectly level surface. To check if trued up, I lay the housing directly on the glass and rock it back and forth. Any clicking sounds means more sanding is needed.
When Installing I use 2 gaskets coated with copper gasket sealant and only snug up the bolts.
