End of a good thing...My "carb shack' is closing!!

[b:115bdab68d][i:115bdab68d]After much debate with Leslie...(my wife)..., we have decided to pass the torch over to someone else, and call it a great thing while it lasted.

Royse....( a member here) , and good carb-overhaul man, is/has taken the 'bull', by the horn, and is now, your 'go-to' man for overhauls on your carb, if you need help. I've seen his work, and have seen/read good reviews by owners of the carbs he has tackled so far.
Royse, keeps his email button open on the modern side of this forum, so if you need a carb done, contact can be made with him for help!!!

I'll be available for phone help if needed, but I find the time needed to be fully involved with carb work, is just not possible right now.
I have one more carb to do, for a friend, coming up in January, then I am just watching/reading the forum and, taking care of my wife!!!!

I've enjoyed being of help to all....But...it's time to pass the carb work over to someone else!!!

Thanks to all here, and wishing you all well!!!

Wish you and Leslie well! Great to see another great forum member taking over the carb rebuilds!

From what I've seen Royse does really good work and should be a worthy successor. It seems like Hermie should be part of the deal too though. :D Take good care of Leslie and I wish you both the best.

DANGITT!

Now you need to load Leslie and Hermie up and get them off of the tundra!

I am farther north than you and never thought I would feel like that, but every winter &^%$%$^ me off more!

I don't know you or ever had any dealings with you, but I
check in here every day, I've seen the work you do and
NEVER heard any one complain, with the wife thing I think
we all understand, take care of your wife and take care of
yourself, I have seen some of Royse work and I believe he
can pickup where you are leaving off, on the plus side if I
need carb work I could take it go him, I am also from
Michigan. God bless you and your wife, and bless you
Royse for picking up the torch.

Looked to me like you were having a ball!!!!!

good luck to you.
While I haven't needed your service, I've pointed out posts, diagrams, and pictures that you and JMOR have put up to many people that are having carb problems.
Very helpful when I just don't have time, and tell somebody, 'Check this out and get back to me if you can't fix it'
Thanks again.

Does this mean that Royse has to post in [b:52bb8a3382]BOLD[/b:52bb8a3382] now...

All kidding aside, I wish both you and the wife the best. I have never sent you a carb, but can truly appreciate your craftsmanship. I have one of your immaculate finished carb pics tacked above my train wreck of a workbench; for inspiration of course.

Well done good and faithful servant.

JMOR;
NEVER FEAR,....I will always remember our, as you say, cuss, dis-cuss, and learning sessons, via email, and phone.
Had it not been for your encouragment, and help....I probably would not have ventured into the 'beyond', as deep as I did.

For your knowledge and help....I thank you!!!
Your friendship means a lot to me!!!
Thank you!!!!

Enjoy your new found and earned personal time. I'm still enjoying the fruits of your labor on my 8N.

Thanks Again

OK...now I have to take the Jube carb off and put it in the museum! Dang thing doesn't work when the gas tank is empty anyway

Make sure we keep in touch. I appreciate the advise and guidance (even though it's made up) :!:

You and Les have plenty to work on without carbs. Good move!

I really liked how your carbs looked afterwards. You do good work. Your wife is lucky to have you and I'm sure you are lucky to have her. Hope she returns to top shape soon.

A lot more of us need to try to be the perfectionest
that you are Gary.

Well done!

Zane

Well, I never got around to using the Carb Shack's services, but there was *definitely* some "abusing" that went on there!

Sometimes life (and the Lord) changes your priorities, and you have to "let go the things behind."

Hope we can stop by again some day when we "head West" again.

All the best and our prayers to you both. You are still going to hang around here, yes? 8)

Glad things have worked out in a positive direction for all involved. I'm sure there is no lack of skill in this passing of torch and your dedication to the most important in life are clearly shown.

Big shoes to fill!
Take care of Les and yourself, nothing is more important.
Joan and I are still pulling for her and wish you both the best! :)

Gary:
Your carburetor posts and your sense of humor have always been worth the reading along with the weather reports on Seeley Lake.
Retirement is a big step and that is why retirees get a gift and a party.
I’m too far away for a party but can mail the gift (not a gold watch).
It is dual purpose in that it is functional and hereafter you will honestly be able to say you have a pair. Have fun.

All I need is an address.

When one door closes, another opens.

I enjoyed reading your advice in the past and I am sure that I will continue to in the future cause you need to set us back straight from time to time.

Gary,
I haven"t been very good at checking in with you these past several months. Between one long irrigation season(it started in May)and the CSKT Compact work I"ve been doing, it seems I have time for little else. I spent one day a week in Helena trying to make sure some of the technical work on water quantification was being done correctly but we couldn"t turn those buggers with a spade bit! I haven"t done much responding on the Ferguson Forum either.
Christine is having hip replacement surgery on the 13th so that"s an added complication for the next month or so.
I know how much you liked to rework carbs and you are a master of it so I"m sure you are closing the Carb Shack with some reluctance. has Les had her shoulder surgery yet?

You and Les are in our thoughts and prayers and when things slow down I"ll contact you.

Jerry

Gary, Sad to see you close the shack, but fully understand!! You have more IMPORTANT things to do, and that's so cool!! Best wishes to you and your sweetie!! Thanks for the rebuild on my 8n carb. It works GREAT, and isn't too bad on gas either. Take care my friend!!
Dave

Three of my 8N tractors and those of several
neighbor's 8N tractors I have worked on all have a
rebuilt by "GB in MT" carb. I still have one Gb
rebuilt as a spare. Just because you retire does
not mean that when Les is well enough to start
chasing you out of the house that you can't reopen
the carb shack. Take care of your bride and stay
in touch. Thanks for all you work. My desk is not
as clean and well organized and your work bench.

Gary, we wish you all the good one can for you and Leslie!
Take Care.

The tractor world has benefited by the work of your venture and those that made it possible...

I like big tippers but tips don't pay the bills nor does the glory...
Soon your bud will run out of adrenalin may the big tipper gods be good to him....

Hi Gary, I have alway's enjoyed your post's and adventures with the carb shack and the interesting place to live at Seely Lake. Although I am long way's from your location, (east coast of Canada)too far to send a carb. I have learned much information with your experiences on carb's for the Fords. All the best for you and your wife, enjoy your retirement years. On another piece of gossip this monday/06 is our 58 anniversary. Cheers, Murray

Alls well that ends well Gary.
Years from now anthropologists and historians will mine these boards to gather data and draw conclusions about late 20th and early 21st century American life.
They may not know what a carburator is.
But they'll know you were the carb whisperer here and fixed a lot of them for us.
Any idea how many?
My good wishes to Leslie too.
I haven't replied to many of your updates but have followed them and sent my prayers for her along with the others here.
Jerry

All the best Gary. The carburetor you sent me a few years ago on my war horse 8n runs great and it starts oh so easy when the motor is piping hot. It never did that before. A good carburetor and good points make mowing a pleasure. Happy Trails.

Gary,
Thank you so much for your honesty and your skill. The carb you rebuilt for me (while putting up with my ignorance and difficulty submitting payment) is still woking fine. You are a gentleman! Good luck, and I hope your wife is doing well.
