pipe off of bottom of rear differential?

this pipe was on tractor when I bought it, coming off hydraulic pump?. would like to know what it would be used for, debating takeing it off when I overhaul the hydraulic cylinder unless it would be of use to me. hope picture comes thru.

I got one sort of like that, It is used to provide hyd fluid to my one armed front loader. I chain down the three point arms and the hyd fluid goes out that pipe to the loader ram. The port on the pump is used to hook a pressure gauge to to check pump pressure.

so by chaining down the 3 point hitch the hydraulic pressure goes out this pipe to a ram on a front end loader? isn't tis kind of hard on the 3 point hitch?

It will eventually bend the arms that are on the shaft under the seat. It's a slow process, though. We had to replace both of the arms on our 52 with the Wagner loader.

"isn't tis kind of hard on the 3 point hitch?"

Not really.

But it doesn't supply enough oil to operate a FEL in a useful manner, either.

I think I will be taking it off, if I were to put a fel on id mount a pump on front. I thought it
might be to power something in the back of tractor that might be useful.

I don't what you mean when you say not enough oil in a useful manner. Mines works pretty good and will lift one heck of a lot if you got weight in the rear. It is not the fastest in the world and compared to new tractor with a new fast acting fel but it does all I want it too!

Hey R Geiger, I'm glad the loader works out well for you, and I in no way want to criticize that!

I guess I have been spoiled, as I have owned a couple of 8N's and a MF 35 with Davis/Midwest loaders with live stinger pumps, and they were literally as fast as equipment being sold today.

WAY ahead of their time vs. using the "belly pumps".

No. It is exactly the same as if the load you are lifting was attached to the 3pt. You can't pick up anything more with the loader than you can pick up with the 3pt and they are both seeing that load. Replace the tie downs with a heavy implement and you will see what I mean - you will have a hydraulic seesaw ;-)

TOH

That is where the oil for the booster cylinders for the 3 point comes from and also if you have a front blade with seperate cylinder lift. Have had a booster cylinder hooked up there on 44 2N for 60 years, also used front loader for years. Same hookup on Ferguson 30 and used remote cylinder on hydrolic lift pull type plow, wheel disk and combine platform lift. Do not take it off, just cap it till you need it.

you have the answer on what it was for.
I'd secure the top with a bracket so it can't wobble/vibrate
and leave it there.
Own the tractor long enough and you'll want/need it.
And me being a gauge guy, looka there, a handy place to screw in a high pressure gauge.....
