doing a total rebuild on this tractor it had no carb on it when i got it but came with a large box of parts in that box is a tsx 241b carb in a lot of pieces also came with another parts tractor a earlier model 8n with front distributor and has a tsx 33 carb on it is there any difference in the two carbs it shows in the parts books the same repair kit for both can i use this carb instead of tsx 241b they look the same Thanks for any help Bill in UTAH

There are small differences, but you can certainly use the TSX-33.
That's assuming it's in usable shape of course.
If they have been in boxes for a while, I would go through whichever
one I wanted to use. Spiders, mud dobbers, whatever you can think
of might be in there! This site sells a decent comprehensive kit.

thanks when i said box i should have said 1 large box with everything just thrown in there the boy i bought this from had started to work on tractor then quit the parts tractor had the carb still bolted on it so it is complete i have worked on old fords before still have my uncles old 47 2n that i grew up on back in the 50,s and 60,s now i like to rebuild old tractors to keep busy its good to read about people saving these old tractors for people to see and enjoy Thanks for the help and keep up the good work Bill

I got this when I was trying to figure out which one to rebuild for my tractor. Could not get a link to work so I cut and pasted this.

TSX 33 9N carburetor used on tractors prior to Serial No. 260596

TSX 241 8N carburetor used on tractors between Serial Nos. 260596 and 276115 (without economizer jet).

8N-9510 TSX 241A 8N carburetor used on tractors between Serial Nos. 276115 and 313112 (with economizer jet)

TSX 241B 8N carburetor used starting with Serial No. 313112 (modified)

TSX 241C The 241C deleted the economizer jet again.

The 241C was later 8N original production and was really a cheaper built unit than the 241B it
followed. Because of this, the 241C was eventually superseded by earlier 241B.

so the 241b would have the economizer built in the top of the carb but not the tsx33 i will try to find all the parts for the 241b wish me luck Thanks Bill

Currently have a 33 on my early 8n, runs fine. Took the 33 from my 9N, rebuilt it put it on the 8n while I rebuilt its 241. Never swapped them back, but might some day when I have them off again.

(quoted from post at 11:10:25 10/01/14) so the 241b would have the economizer built in the top of the carb but not the tsx33 i will try to find all the parts for the 241b wish me luck Thanks Bill
3 has it.

My '41 9n has a 241b that came on it,and works fine. I didn't know the difference until I rebuilt it first time. lha
