The rear blade on my 8N will not lift until I get Touch control lever about 1- 1 1/4 inches from top and then I have no control as it lifts all the way up at once. I replaced all parts in pump and had lift cover off and replaced cylinder and piston along with pin for position control arm. please help, thanks

And in addition to what soundguy asked......

Did you replace the cam follower pin?

i, Bruce! Am I supposed to file that notch in the pin? Mine doesn't have it? :^)

I have been using the position control lever in vertical position for position control, when I put it in draft position, fully forward, it does not seem to make any difference. Lift cover spring adjustments were according to manual but I was not able to get valve rocker lever to contact pump housing when touch control lever was in full up position no matter how I adjusted quadrant. thanks Soundguy

(quoted from post at 03:23:32 09/30/14) What exactly does this jig help adjust as I have a hard time imagining how, thanks
t is like oboma care...you have to "buy" it to find out! ha!

The picture shows the jig bolted to the lift cover. It provides a fixed reference point for adjustments.

Using the manual is fine if you have a new lift w/ little wear. Which of course isn't going to happen these days w/ a 60+ year old tractor. All of the parts are worn, so measuring "1/2 inch from the flummox rod" doesn't get you much when the flummox rod has 1/4" of wear.

hen speaking of position control, only three things determine where the tip of the lift control arm is located, i.e., position such as to move control valve linkage against the pump housing. 1)position of sliding quadrant, 2)touch control as it rotates the eccentric on the control lever shaft, 3)cam & cam-follower pin as it moves drawbar control arm, which in turn pushes the position control rod/spring against pad on lift control arm. Those are the three inputs. Now, if the lift control arm is bent, then clearly that would alter the position of the tip. Also failure to take slop/slack out of linkage during your adjustments will alter the end results & this is necessary due to both the geometry & the aforementioned 60+ years of wear. Other factors: could the draft linkage be so messed up that it is limiting the travel of the control arm when position control mode is selected? Yes. Forward movement of the lift control arm can ultimately be limited by the draft control swivel/bushing/washer, as swivel contacts the washer. Not supposed to happen, but bad enough adjustment/bent linkage/etc. could cause such.

JMOR , that's a lot for my little brain but I'll sure try to understand it, thank you very much
