Top loader door switch has quit working..What is the small clear tube leading from the switch? I figured maybe a drain tube just in case a few drops of water get sloshed up on the switch..any thoughts/experiences with these? This one and one more will be two for me..Thanks

Thanks Ken..Sure be good to keep this one going for
a while longer--everything is quitting--ice maker
quit after having to put the refrig on a generator--
door springs on dishwasher broke and now this....

I expect that the tube connects to the drain tube just before the drain valve, to keep the switch from allowing the door to be open while it is filled with water. Broken door springs on the dishwasher are easily fixed.

McCombs Supply........ 601-948-4680 Jackson, Missippi. Other branches thru out the state.

Give 'em make, model, and S/N. They are great for appliance parts.

Being a maintenance manager for an apartment complex with several hundred apartments for the last few years there's always something you can't find in your appliance parts catalog. I've been using this PartsSelect for a few years now and so far they have had everything I needed. They seem to be cheaply priced and fast shipping.

Thanks Ken-will keep that URL for later use. In my
older age and laziness I tend to take shortcuts more
and more--I just did not want to mess with it-so I
was able to get enough wire slack by the edge of the
tub and I cut it and bypassed the switch--it is
working fine..Not going to open it with it
spinning..

I have replaced the door springs before--not fun. My
thing is finding the right springs--no luck so far
this time. It's a Gipson quiet clean--no model # to
be seen anywhere..

ALL I have ever fudged with you can makeshift the adjustment for the sprang ... Nuttin to it and about as EZ as it gets... I wash the dishes 90% of the time and when I do its by hand nuttin to it....

Thanks John--copied the info to one of my special files--If I can locate a model number I will be calling them about my dishwasher door springs.Jxn is only about 40 miles from me-don't drive in Jxn anymore but maybe they will do mail order..

LOL -- yea and if I could just get her to wash them
90% of the time I wouldn't even think about an auto
dishwasher..we don't cook much so don't have enough
dirty dishes for it to matter one way or the other -
but we are spoiled to it---might not turn it on but
every 4-5 days..or more..Just ordered the door
springs--I remember they were really fun to put on
one time before...so excited-can't wait...

tie the two wires together and go to washing. Just don't put your hand in the machine when it is spinning. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just replaced the lid switch on my 10 plus year old machine, the old switch had the tube the new replacement switch did not....shorting the switch instead of replacing it will save you $40 I.e., the cost of a new switch.......also just replaced the washer coupler which connects the motor to the transmission..$18 for a new one...boy do I love you tube, there are some great videos there for repairing washing machines

Yea youtube does really help on lots of things -Next time mine stops I will just buy a new one..This one must be at least 10 yrs old--replaced agitator dogs a few yrs ago..Been a pretty good one..
