Howard Aux Transmission

I have two 8N tractors. One has the Sherman HI and the other has the Howard. I would like to place the Howard in the tractor with the Sherman. I assume this can be done, but does anyone know just what would be involved?

I've got an 8N trans that had both in it so it's had the shifter hole drilled for the Sherman & drilled/tapped for the Howard to bolt up.
Might save you a little trouble. Email if interested.

The easy way would be to take the entire trans/ howard assy and put it in the other one. It is easy to mount the howard tho. there are direction on the other board on how to do it.

Sorry, but I have not been able to locate another board with information describing the installation of a Howard trans into a tractor.
Any additional info would be greatly appreciated.

As RGeiger said it's easier to use the trans the howard is already in and add the sherman. The other tractor site has the mounting instructions for the sherman combo. (Unless they have added more since to last time I checked) Don't use there template. your hole will be in the wrong location. Use the measurements off your old trans hole. Make sure you use the proper amount of shims.
I have a sherman step down and a howard in my 2n and it serve my needs so I just have to ask why go to the trouble to put in a step up with a howard?

Split both tractors behind the transmission. Then unbolt and transfer the PTO shifters as a unit along with the Howard gear box parts. Here is a link to the Howard Owners Manual which contains the installation instructions.

(quoted from post at 09:13:29 09/30/14) I had a question for you in my reply maybe you missed it?

Well, the Howard is very low geared and the combination should be quite helpful as it will provide different ground speed as well as the PTO speed change.

The extra gears might be helpful, not sure on what
good the faster pto speeds will do unless you have a
specific use for it. When you get it together and
operating it a while post back your thoughts on if
it's as useful as you thought. I have an extra
howard and a couple of step-up laying aroung. May
have to throw one together.
