Some good duct tape on this rim. (pics)

I've had this tractor for four years.
It started leaking CaCl around the valve stem Sunday so I took
the tire off and found this. You can see where this hole was just
duct taped over. No telling how long it's been that way. Good tape!
The valve stem hole isn't real bad, but has some sharp points that
need to be fixed before I put the tire back on with a new tube.

i pulled a 12.4-28 down and found a slotted hole about 4" long and 2" wide inthe middle. someone had put a piece of carpet in there to hold the tube in the rim!

Be sure to put that rotting salt back in if you want
to see which tape is better. If you dont care,
replace it with used anti freeze.

Yep, I'll put the CaCl back in it.
My tire dealer still recommends it over "beat juice".
Their reasoning is the same as mine.
It's only a problem if it leaks and you don't fix it quickly.
It's also heavier and cheaper than anything else purchased new.
I'll probably save this hat rim for a "restoration" type tractor
with just air in the tires and use a 6 loop rim for the worker.

Use Gorilla tape next time and bo telling how long
it will last--it's way better than duct tape..when
it sticks it sticks..

piece of a truck bed mat or heavy floormat works too.
Oh wait, did I say that out loud.... :D

(quoted from post at 07:45:16 09/24/14) And I believe we've all split an ok tube to use as a liner too!
Yep, in fact this rim had one of those too! Didn't cover the tape.
