8N water pump

So long story short my old water pump was squealing on my 51 8N so yesterday took the old one off and replaced with rebuilt one. Only problem is when I put the new one on I think I over tightened it and the studs are spinning freely in the block and will not tighten down enough to prevent leaking. Any suggestions on what do from here?

Pray that you stripped the nut or the studs & not the block.

Pull it off & take a look.

If you stripped the threads in the block, you'll need to repair it w/ the latest version of a heli-coil. Can't remember what it's called, but others w/ more recent experience will be along soon w/ advice.

maybee a thread sert is what you were thinking of?

speaking of broke bolts. broke a bolt off holding the outside ear of the starter on my 941D

I give up. everything i touch lately is breaking. i'm afraid to go pee!

the old nuts came off pretty easy and they didn't take a lot of force before I figured they were just spinning and not tightening down.
