Oil Pressure Gauge

Anyone got a recommendation for a LIGHTED oil pressure gauge? What about a LIGHTED volt meter?

I am currently running the el cheapo TSC gauge and it is surprising accurate and still holding up.

My ammeter is lit and I am a known gauge watcher so I would like to add a lit OP gauge for when I am mowing at night (my preferred time) since I watch my daughter after work.

Thanks in advance...

BTW these need to be CHEAP, LOL.

I've seen them for around $15 at Oreilly's

summitracing has some on clearance for around that price too.

(quoted from post at 16:57:36 09/16/14) cheap? look at sunpro. I have seen a few kinds lit and not.

That's what I was thinking.

Gonna stop at Advanced tomorrow and look for an OP and temp guage.

I did see that YT sells a "dash light" but I think that would be blinding.

hard to believe how inexpensive low budget gauges are getting today.
oil pressure ones with the kit to mount it, about $15
just got a lighted voltmeter off ebay for $9.26 free shipping.

Will they last as well as some of the good ones I've had for 20 years or more?, probably not.
Would I have run them on my high dollar drag engines...nope.
Are they accurate?.......they are after I check them LOL
water temperature is checked with a meat thermometer.
OP with a good liquid-filled gauge first.
A mark on the glass at the ideal verified pressure/temperature,
and I'm good.
12v/alternator tractor voltmeter? does it move when I turn the key on, then move to the right some when I start it? ok, good to go :D

My 8N is a 52 sidemount mutt that runs about 25 lbs cold and 15 lbs hot.

Converted to 12V with ammeter that works. Swings while cranking, dips into discharge when I throw the lights on and immediately comes back to 0. Rarely every actually shows charge on a 1 yr old Group B battery. New Delco 3 wire. Wired per JMOR (thanks JMOR!!!)

I would like to replace lit ammeter for lit voltmeter. Change unlit OP gauge for lit OP gauge and add a lit temp gauge. Need a cable for my proofmeter.

My tractor, my time, my money. Talk about information overload :D .

Like I said, most of my mowing time is an night, and I am a known gauge vulture. Maybe I just baby this thing too much...

Going today to look at cheap gauges and a temp sender setup. Thanks guys, keep the ideas coming.

Well I get er did tonight. Picked up a Sunpro 3 gauge set at Advance Auto after work. Got a volt meter, oil pressure gauge, and temp gauge.

All gauges, sender, everything in one kit. All for $30 and all lit. They didn't have the two I wanted and I got all three for about $20 less

Got the OP and volt meter installed. Gonna have to mutilate a perfect dash for the temp gauge. Came out way better than expected.

Changed all mine out with Sunpro's 4 years ago.... They all work perfectly still. Hardly ever look at them, but it's kinda fun driving back from the back 40 at night makin sure I'm gonna make it! ... lol (tach, oil, amps, volts, temp)

Nice setup!

I got that same cluster you have at the lower left. Volts, Oil, Temp. It was on sale at Advance for only $30.

I'm have the volt meter in place of the stock ammeter and the OP gauges swapped out. Trying to figure out how to mount the temp gauge without cutting up the dash, but it will fit so well below the key switch opposite the proofmeter.

Hope to finish it up today.

If that volt meter does not work out fer ya look this one up... I am not gonna say its water prof but they do a good job of trying to make it water prof... The light blub is sealed well and its made for a tractor.

Thanks Hobo. My ammeter is a sparex and is built pretty well. Bulb is sealed pretty well.

The Sunpro's are pretty dinky, made in China. The bulbs and wire pigtails supplied were a joke, but I'm going to try them. The lights were a little confusing at first. Headlight, worklight gauge lights all wired together and push/pull switch.

The Sunpro backlights were magic and worked without the ground wire hooked up at all; until I remembered the headlights ground through the pot :?

Ill post a pic tonight if I get the temp gauge installed. I'm using the block drain and cutting a 2" hole in the lower left dash for the gauge.

I guess you understand the block drain is a poor choise fer yer temp sender...

Yeah, but I don't want to drill the head right now. Gonna do it this winter during an in frame rebuild.

Its all relative anyway, I would just have to know that 140 on the gauge equates to 180 of actual temp. or what have you.

Beware the 1/4" adapter will snap off extremely EZ... BTDT...

i like lit gauges more.

if you have headlamps. tie them to the headlamp circuit... anytime it's dark enough for headlamps.. you need lit gauges. that wy they are not burning all the time wearing the bulbs out when the key is on.

Yep totally agree. I have them wired anytime the headlights are on they are lit.

I wish the pressure gauge quit at 50 lbs instead of 100. Not like mine will ever see 50 either, but the perspective was easier to check at a glance.

I have them all 100% installed. Temp gauge got to about 120* mainly at idle and a stroll to the mailbox. Thermostat never open. Will have to put it to work to see what it will read at operating temp.

If I get a chance I'll post a quick pic tonight.

Good job on the gauges neat looking dash. It might just be the picture but it looks like you have a lot of toe in on the front end.

Thanks. It kinda hurt cutting a 2" hole in a perfectly good dash.

Its just the pic that make the toe look that way. I actually just added a little and the steering got much easier. Neither tire really drags lock to lock.
