update on the ac

I'll try make this short as I can. But to start with the gentleman is in the early stages of dementia. We went to help the him with his 9n which is a 2n. His genny wasn't charging so after checking voltages I searched the forum for polarizing a 2n 6v and got it done quicker than reading the it manual...anyhow his exhaust pipe wasn't really connected to the manifold cause the clamp was on upside down..man was that tractor loud. Fixed that for him, he still has an exhaust leak on #4 which we will replace the gasket for him soon. The hydraulic fluid was barely on the dipstick so we went and got him some and filled it up. He wasn't even aware to shut the gas off. He pulled the breather cap off trying to check the engine oil. Very sad to say the least. Adjusted his brakes as good as we could for the time being. I believe he needs new shoes. Hooked up his 1981 3 pt finish mower for him and did a test run with it. You could just see the excitement in him getting his tractor back to normal. So we looked at the ac when we first got there. Its a C from his paperwork he has on it. I didn't confirm it by checking any #'s as our priority was getting his n going right. The tires are off. Theres plastic sheeting over the engine because the top is off the engine. Like I said I know nothing about ac so whether its the head or valve covers I don't know. He has the tires and what not for it. And this is where I am struggling he wants to just give it to us for working on his 2n. If we do take it it will have to go straight into our shop which I need to consider that might put a damper on whatever n we are working on. He had a nice Dearborn cultivator, ferguson 2 bottom plow, erskin snowblower(that will go to scrap) a back blade and disc that needs work cause a tree fell on it. so we have to come up with a price for all that. He also has a B allis he plans to sell and said we could probably work out a deal on that too, it has a belly mower and hes never touched it since he bought it....so I don't know what we plan to do with the c...I don't need another project...but its ultimately up to the other half...if we can agree :)

The C is worth no more than scarp as is. You have no way of knowing if the engine or transmission is any good. The B with fair rubber, running and belly mower can bring as much as 2500 bucks.

If the disk is damaged I may be interested in it as a parts donor.

We're getting the C for no cost...I'll have to get a pic of the disc....It was painted reddish orange...double gang..i don't recall if they saw a manufacturer on it.. in any case it will still be there when we decide on what to offer on the implements and work on his 2n brakes...might be first snowfall...but hopefully before. Its too damn cold for me now with this wind.

I hope he is aware that driving the Ford with the leak at #4 will only cause it to get worse resulting in a new manifold or repairs to the block.

You talked about his dementia so I hope he gets it repaired soon.

He rarely uses it. And I have a new gasket
for it on hand and will get it on soon.
Like in the next month. Be lucky if he
uses it from now till then. I just didn't
have the time to put it on when we were
there. This weekend was the first time he
had started it in a year. Its a sad
situation that's for sure. But we'll will
fix whatever we can on it for him at no
cost for the enjoyment he gets from seeing
it correct.

Some people are just naturally cool.

It was a nice tractor. Had hat rims that had never been painted and a hupp overdrive. Taurus tail light with the chrome bezel in mint condition. I'll have to make sure I get a pic of him on it. Never seen an old mans eyes light up so much. I personally could care less about the ac I have enough to work on.
