my jubilee carb is 'blubbering" no black smoke, so I don't think its running rich, but the adjustments have no effect on the carb, either of them, it as a fairly new kit in it less than a year and I have had it apart twice yesterday, and don't see anything obvious in there its clean, and no torn gasket, the venture is the original, and fits so tight it wont remove, ive never had it out, any ideas? the cause; this occurred as I was brush hogging Friday, stuff was as tall as the tractor is so I had plenty of throttle on, the choke rod actually fell off for some reason, maybe rubbing vegetation released it, but the tractor flooded to a stop, ive got it running enough, [ its not missing yet], sitting on the trailer, and still have 30 acres on this job so im going to try to run it, but if you have any ideas for me id appreciate it, this tractor was running near perfect before this

meant to add the main je is at 1 and 1/4 turns from all he way in, and the other one is at 1 full turn right now,

Eric;
You say the "choke rod fell off"????? (Need more info, there!!
Just the rod,?? OR did the choke actuating bail slide off the carb????

If the bail fell off of the carb, it may have, lost the return spring that holds the choke open, and is Now flopping the choke plate open and closed.
If that be the case......the fuel to air mix, is gonna be all over the place, and be flooding the sparkies!!!!

OR......if as you say...." the 'Stuff', was as tall as the tractor"....it may be that some chaff, got sucked into the carb, and is stuck in one of the carb passages!!?????

Check the choke rod and plate to see if they are working correctly.
Kinda hard for me to answer yer ??'s.....cuz, I ain't there to see nuttin'

just the rod fell off just inhooked somehow is why I thought it might have beed got by the vegetation, going into it for the 3rd time today it runs poorly, and wont pull a load, then all the sudden it smooth's out for a few seconds then back to sounding like 2 cylinders, the float will float, so it isn't full of gas and letting the needle stay open, I checked that nothing in the passages and the needle and seat are good, needle has the tip, its getting fuel from somewhere as the mixture screws still don't affect it, gasket is good between the 2 halves and the base of the carb, just don't know what else to look at

well after all that it aint the carb , I put in another new set of points and condenser to replace the set I put in 2 weeks ago, and it ran fine tonight, hope I get more than 2 weeks out of this set! is carquest slipping in china junk too now?

Glad you got it going again! Most places sell cheap points.
Some have a premium line that are better.
Question: Do your carb adjustment screws work now?

on the screws, no they have no affect on the carb, I ordered a kit for the carb hopefully that will help it does run good now though at least it did in the cattle pen last nite, so I can finish a cash brush hogging job I have going, its been about 4 years since I put a kit in this carb this tractor runs and works daily so its probably time for another, when I tuned this up 2 weeks ago I asked for blue streak I got the box but what was in the box liked like Chinese junk, guess they were

The BlueStreak part number you want for points is FD-8081X.
From NAPA - Echlin# CS753 work well too.
Neither should have a plastic rubbing block.

If the adjustments aren't working, I think you still have something
wrong in that carb. Most common would be a plugged passage.
Try running a small piece of wire, guitar string, etc through all of
the passages. Carb cleaner and air don't always cut it.

I will do that carefully when the kit arrives, I want it working properly, this tractor works every day and I want it to be what it was when new and most of all reliable

glad to hear you found part of the problem,
but like the guys are saying, if turning the main slowly in with it above idle, doesn't make it stumble, then stall, the carb still has a problem.
debris, float too high, leaking needle, float rubbing on something, etc

These old tractor engines are so forgiving, they will fool you sometimes.
I have a few off brands with temperamental carb needles/floats.
At start-up, they will let you know by not starting, but when working and it happens, sometimes your only clue is the different sound/tone/pitch of the engine. They still keep working along fine.
