Probably a dumb question

Ok, I just put a set of mower deck height chains on my 8N.

Since I usually leave the mower on the tractor all summer, is it ok to leave the mower hanging on the chains with the tractor parked?

I was just thinking about the extra weight on the parked tires. Rather than mess with unhooking the chains I could probably just put a couple blocks under the mower.

So is that a better idea than just leaving the mower hanging on the chains?

Look at it this way when they park a tractor that has wheel weights on it they do not remove the weights so pretty much the same thing. So yes it is ok to do that

I do have wheel weights so that why I was wondering about the extra weight of the mower hanging on it also.

Thanks for the answers guys.

i use chains on my b hog and always park it up on blocks.not because of the weight though. want to keep some air flow around it and discourage criters from amking it a home. parked on the grass/weeds; not gravel or concrete. so you still may want to consider the blocks.

I"m glad you worry about things like this---it made me realize I"m not alone in my own worries about sometimes the non worry type issues. I"m a grease nut. use a machine 30 minutes and re-grease. Makes no sense.

greasin's easier than repairin'

50 cents of grease will save a guy $500 in the long run. Just like if your going to do a job do it correctly or not at all

won't bother your tractor a bit.
My loader tractors have a very heavy counterweight
hanging from check chains....for years.

Your mower? only you can see it. Mounts areas ok and still strong? If it's rusty, there is a risk of a mount pulling loose from the weight.
I set mine down on a very large heavy machinery pallet
for the same reasons as the other guys, dampness, critters.
