If you are chopping up habenerio peppers for dinner, and you run to the restroom for a leak, not only is it important to wash your hands very well before leaving the bathroom, but it is equally important to wash them as soon as you ENTER the bathroom.

Note to self, pick up more hydrocortisone cream on way home from work today. :)

This also applies to those private moments with your special someone!

The only use I have for Habenero peppers is stripping paint :) I have a big crop sitting here right now waiting for my middle son to come pick them up. He has no taste buds left.....

i don't mind a pickled jalapeno.. and bananna pepers.. bell pepers..e tc. maybee even crushed red peper.. but nothing hot.

My wife likes to eat fresh pepers with chicken, mexican or asian food. Thus i grow chili's bells , jalapenos habenero and a couple others.. ( can't remember the name.. ..uh... peperocinni yeah.. salad pepers. )

i have found that our jalapeno bush makes red and greens.. and I can make it produce hot pepers by wattering it good at bloom, and then just before maturity, scale back onthe water.. not killing or wilting leaves. but just enough to keep the plant going. turns the pepers into paint strippers.

wife wanted an orange a hab last night. I cut it up.. ran my hands under water and went to relieve myself. about 5m later.. good lord!

I hopped intot he shower and soaped up.. then applied a mix of alo gel, hydrocortisone and diaper rash cream!

took about 10m for the heat to stop.

during my nightly trip for bladder draining i checked and was relieved to see that nothing burnt off and no permanent damage! ;)

It does seem that dry conditions produce hotter chili's. We have Habenero (for my son), Jalapeno, and Hungarian Hot Wax (shopping error) this year. I was pleasantly surprised by the Hugarian peppers - pleasant flavor and just the right amount of heat when cooked up with some onions and mushrooms for my almost daily steak and cheese sub ;-) I have observed that even the oil from them can be hazardous to sensitive body parts

next i want to grow some datyl pepers.

my wife likes em hot. mind you when i do the dry 'strain' treatment before harvest on the plants it makes some that makes wasabi look like mayonase.. :)

i'm laughing now.. just glad i'm still intact!

last night I almost thought an ant or something followed me in from letting the dogs out.. then i realized what i had done cutting the pepers up!

my wife was just setting down to eat when i tore past her heading to the shower.

It is always best to wear rubber gloves when working with any hot peppers. You can reach a point where all the soap in the world or other such things will not help one bit I learned that the hard way and my hands burned for hours. Then I hand to wear the gloves to be able to go to the bath room

I remember back in university, my roommate cooked up a stir-fry with habaneros in it. I don't know why/how, but somehow they vaporized--think tear gas. He had to shut off the stove and we evacuated the apartment for a couple hours...

reminds of the time back in HS when someone suggested applying ben-gay to relieve jock itch. being the dummy I was i did...........

I had forgotten about that episode in my life.

Results were as expected.

I feel his pain. Last summer I made salsa and made the mistake of cutting jalapenos w/o gloves on. My hands burned for hours. Im just fortunate I don't need them to use bathroom.

Habaneros are pretty mild compared to some of the peppers on the market, thats not to say they won't burn though. I was kind of scared to handle and cut a 7 pot brain strain and carolina reapers. Wear rubber gloves and still wash hands twice to be safe, those suckers bring a new meaning to HOT.
