You better take advantage of it free hunting license
meijer.my wife called and said there is a knew hunting fee
6$ before you purchase antler deer license and 40$ for
combo. The dnr said were using the money to put collars
on deer for what . I have 5 kids i might just half to buy a
cow or go cow hunting this fall.

Wow, that is a lot for a license. They are around $15 here in Alabama, if I remember correctly. I hunt my own property so no license needed.

lol tom, and doe tags use to be 4.00 for leftovers. now at 20.00. plus with fishing, you now have to buy a trout stamp, just to get a regular fishing license. i only fish saginaw bay for walleyes and don't really like trout, salmon.

i hunt on my own property too, but in mich you have to buy a license on your own property.

I really would not mind getting a license as all of the money goes to the dnr down here. They do help gather data and "manage " the wild life. The last 20 years or so, we could take a doe a day and a buck a day the whole season. Nov. 20th - Jan. 31. ( Before that, doe season was only for a week during Christmas). The last couple of years they dropped it to a doe a day and only 3 bucks for the whole season. Of the three bucks, one of them must have at least 4 point on one side. It really slowed down the good old boys that would quite their job when the season started and let their wife and kids go on welfare so they could "hunt" the whole time. More like they "road hunt". I use to have to face them down for running their dogs across my land and setting up on the road that runs down the length of one side. Road hunting is illegal here. The law has since been changed where they cannot have a loaded rifle/shotgun on the road and cannot shoot within a certain distance of road/houses. That helped quite a bit.

I haven't bought a hunting license in my state for years. Framers hunt for free on there own property. If you want to hunt else where in the state you would need to purchase a license.

Big game Buck lic here in NY is $22 for resident and $10 to apply for a drawing for a doe lic.
Small game and fishing lic are separate.

Bought a life time lic about 15 years ago for $250 which allows me all hunting and fishing for rest of my life.

Went to apply for life time of my 15 yr old son this year. Price is now $779.
