Pictures for Charles Krammin (and others)

A little over a year ago Charles found this 640 for me and helped
me drag it out of the weeds down by his place.
He even brought his truck and trailer and hauled the loader that
came with it and all the extra parts that weren't on it to my place.
Thanks for all the help Charles!

It was a little rough, green with lichens and not running.
But it had good tires and once I got it running it had good oil
pressure so I worked it until the smoke quit and cleaned it up.
Now its a working tractor again.
Lots more pictures of the whole process in a slideshow HERE.

What a beaut!
Love that front bumper!. . . and temp guage!!

Re: Slide show
You did all that in one year!
Amazing!

That's a fine job you did on that one looks really nice. I remember the pictures of it smoking like a tar kettle when you first got it running. Nothing like bringing one back from the dead.

Thanks for all the compliments guys!
She'll go back to work now and should be good to go for a while.
Yes, it'll get scratched. It's a tractor! LOL
I appreciate the sentiment though! :)

I keep telling myself I'm going to "restore" one some day, but
then I wouldn't want to use it. In my limited experience, setting
is worse on them than using them. (by a reasonable operator)

I finished this one at about 8:30 this morning.
Brought the next one up to the shop at about 9:00.
At least this "next one" is a quick fix.
I swear, it's an addiction! At least it keeps me out of trouble.

Man that is a beauty. Makes me want to kick my old 8N to the curb and pick up one of those somewhere!

Gary, you would appreciate the live hydraulics if you're using
the 3 pt hitch at all. This model does not have live PTO though.
Ford got better as they learned! :)

Woah! I thought for sure they did have the live hyd. I have seen a couple for sale around here...glad I didn't get one. Live hyd. will be a must on my "next" tractor....that will probably have to wait until my "next" wife though...lol. This one would kill me if I brought any more "stuff" home.

They DO have live hydraulics, from the '53 NAA on!
Just not live PTO with the four speed transmission.
Seems you have a good wife there, she'll ignore that "same old 8N"
with the hood that opens down the center all the way to the nose cone. ;)
Now if you get one of the blue ones, people might not think it's an 8N. LOL

You should b proud of the work u have done, thats a great lookin tractor. I will b very happy if my 850 comes out looking (and im sure it runs good too) anywhere near that good. Im gonna need more time tho.

Nice job. Looks like it started as a diamond in the rough. I love to see the process documented in pictures with the before and after. It looked like quite the mosquito fogger out there.
By the way, what's the tractor behind that one in the second picture?

Looks great! You do a nice job and fairly
quickly too! If I could get 2 done in a
year I'd be happy.

Looks great Royse,
Did that "Cow Catcher bumper" come with the deal? Were the hydraulics okay?
Any water in Xmission?
Glad I could be a "Gopher" for you?
Sept 27- 28 is "Fall Harvest Festival and Tractor Show" at "Historic Charlton Park".
Our club advisors, and "Barry Gas &Steam Club" (Fair Group) operators.
I have the "Belle City Thrasher" and the "Corn Silage chopper- Silo Filler" ready to go
Even a "Stone Boat-persons" pull for that "600".
Not sure if hitch height is 21-22". but I'll loan you my variable height clevis. Track is "Soft" near side, and you should "get a good bite" with those "good tires" $5.

There was a little (very little) water in the hydraulics, but I changed the
fluids before I ever ran it so I don't think there was any damage.
It all works Ok.
The bumper came with my 8N, but it looks too big on it so I
moved it to the 600. Looks much better on there to me.
Not sure if I'll make that show or not, but if I do I'll look you up.
Thanks again for all the help!

Thanks Beanmedic! They are decals and the script ones do not
fit all that well. Up close you could see they don't exactly match
the stamped script. From this distance, they look good. They're
easier than painting, but for the money I was disappointed in them.
I was quite happy with how it turned out overall though.

(quoted from post at 19:22:46 11/13/14) Hey, very good job, did a couple of them myself, lots of work but very rewarding.
Thanks! I find it very rewarding personally.
