Model B Ford

I picked up a '37 Worthington tractor with the Model B engine. Ford truck tranny and rear end. Got the engine running but it seems like the clutch plates might be stuck. Anyone got an easy way to break the clutch apart without pulling the engine?

in a tractor i'd block clutch a day or 2, then i'd get on it and lock the brakes and bump the starter over a few times while it was in gear... go from there.

other options are to remove the starter and hose down with penetrant too. ( then a bath in brak cleaner once it is free, after slipping it a bit.)

I recently un-stuck a clutch on a CJ2A Jeep that had been sitting for about 15 years. I blocked the clutch pedal down for a couple of days, but that didn"t work. I blocked the front wheels, jacked up the right rear wheel, and revved up the speedometer to 45 MPH. I then dumped the clutch while adding throttle. It stalled out the engine many times, but after a number of tries the clutch broke loose and it started working perfectly!

I did the neighbors John Deere. Start it in gear with a remote starter switch, then while driving it, step on the brakes. If your brakes are oil soaked or weak, this won't work too well.
After that either block the clutch pedal or install a kevlar lined clutch disc.
