A friend of mine asked me to get his old 9N to run again. It was overhauled a few years ago, ran for a couple years and than sat out in his NM sun and wouldn't fire. That was about 7 years ago. I'll go through the fuel and ignition systems, but his wiring harness is abysmal!
Noticed that the 9N page does not list a replacement wiring harness except for a higher end restoration set at 100+ dollars. This old 9N is basic-basic, no lights, etc. running the front mount distributor, 6 vt, ammeter (likely not working), single pole gen (may or may not work), simple on/off toggle (no key switch, well its there but was bypassed at some time in its past). Do any of you know if the 23 dollar 2N wiring harness listed will work?.
(PS. The owner of this tractor is only wanting to make it run... its not a restoration and his money for this project is very limited. He won't be putting lights or cig lighters on it... not even a key. She (meaning the tractor) did get a new set of rear tires a few years back... but the paint and front tires are from the 40s. Shes a gem in the rough...but it'll stay rough. For 30 years it maintained the drive - arroyo - drive (drive goes along and across the arroyo... which needs to be repaired every time the arroyo runs. Few times a year. The past few years he did it with a backhoe... but now its sold and has to go back to using this old ford with a blade and a front end loader. Hes going to miss his backhoe!)
