Low oil pressure

46 2n with 12 volt conversion
I have low oil pressure that runs somewhere between 4 and 9
lbs.
It is a new guage that was purchased on this site .
Where would you suggest that I start looking to rectify this
problem?

If those readings are at idle on a hot engine, you don't have a problem.

The primary possibilities are bearing clearances and oil pump.

as the others said.

likely worn out engine components.

if that is with 10w30 oil at hot idle.. i'd go to 15w40 or 20w50 and plan on a rebuild one of these days.. at least new bearing shells and a oil pump rebuild..e tc.

as bruce said. if that is hot idle.. a few psi showing is better than none. if thin oil.. then different weight may pick it up some if you need to get by.
 
need a little more info.
like said, cold start showing 40 at working rpms,
dropping steadily as it works and gets hotter is fairly normal on a getting tired engine.

had a N like that, would almost peg the gauge at start up.
after a time, it would drop to 10 or so.
great runner, strong, no smoke.
put bearings on my to do list.....years later when I sold the tractor, I still hadn't got around to it. new owner was a Ford guy, it didn't concern him. (I told him)
Still using it as is, as far as I know.

now if that 4-9 is all the time, cold, hot, all rpms, I'd start digging to find out why.......
