no spark on 2n

First let me say that Bruce was right....only the oem resistor on
12v conversion. I took out the white porcelain resister and she
started right up and ran fairly smooth. I hooked up the bush hog
and proceeded to mow the pasture. Once she got hot she
started spitting and sputtering...then she just died on the spot.

My brother and father had replaced plug wires 4-6 years ago but
didn't use copper core. I figured the wires were the culprit... I ran
over to tractor supply and picked up s set of copper universal
wires and installed them. Put on a new cap and rotor while I was
at it. Still no fire at plugs. Amp Meter jumps when cranking and
I'm getting 11-12 volts to coil

Will it crank back up and run after it sits a while? If it will, it might be the coil or the ignition switch..U can easily rule out the switch with a jumper wire--if it runs with the jumper you found the problem.
When were points and condenser last changed?? i"d almost bet a dollar to a doughnut hole it is the points..Just went through this with mine(wouldn"t crank/run) Points were glazed and had some (not much) gunk in the carburetor from bomagas..Bomagas-worst thing that ever happened to gas engines..Idiot that came up with bomagas ought to be made to drink a quart every morning when they wake up..

Are the parts made in the country of almost NEVER right?? If yes the rotor or cap could be bad try your old cap and rotor

Run a jumper wire from the non grounded side of the battery to the top of the coil. Try and start it. If it starts, your problem is between the battery and the top of the coil. If it still doesn't start the problem is in the distributor.

Bob, you hit it right on the head. I just found a list of places that sell non ethanol fuel. That's the problem with living close to a small farm town. They love supporting the local ADM/Monsanto operations. I may have to drive 10 miles more the other way,but I refuse to put that garbage in any of my vehicles knowing what I know now about it.It messes with your sensors and steals mileage of about 20% from your tank. MJM

I swapped coils. The pig tail on the old one wasn't as long as the one on the coil I put on. Thank goodness I had a spare here. It runs like a champ now

Glad you figured it out. You can stretch that pigtail on the coil you removed. Keep it as a spare. Now, how exactly did the E10 gas shrink that pigtail? (wink).
