Tisco 1-3/8 PTO conversion shaft

Tisco lists a shaft, part# 9N710-38, which the catalog describes
as "PTO shaft, 30-7/8". Converts standard 1-3/8" in PTO shaft
9N710B to 1-3/8" spline. Tractors: 9N, 8N."

Anyone know this a shaft that will let you convert reusing the old
parts such as bearing, bearing/seal carrier, sleeve, rather than
buying an assembly with all those parts new? The description
seems pretty clear, but I have been burnt before and it is a heavy
part to have to return.

(Reason I wonder is Amazon had a very good price on just the
Tisco shaft, and it seems maybe roo good to be true being about
half what a shaft with the carrier would cost.)

I am rite sure the shaft/parts will not interchange... With out look'n the bearing is a different animal... I dunno why you would inquire the complete assy is cheap enuff...

parts are all the same for both. The only difference is the spline itself -original is 1-1/8 and ASAE replaced with the 1-3/8 size, with the seal and bearing staying the same.

Looks like you are right,,, about all I could find was the supplied housing for the 1 3/8" conversion is different and but it looks like you could use the 1 1/8 housing as a replacement....

I tend to be frugal with my hobbies, so if I can save $50 with a few minutes work with a puller, I am happy to do it. Also I like to avoid replacing original parts unecessarily whenever possible.

I just heard back from Tisco and they confirm that the shaft is intended for upgrading 9n/8ns with the old 1-1/8" shaft to 1-3/8", works with the old housing, and should require no additional new parts.

I think the reason more people don't realize this cheaper option to replacing the whole assembly exists is that there is a typo in Tisco's catalog where it describes the shaft as "converting "standard 1-3/8" shafts to 1-3/8". The catalogs and websites of most Tisco dealers repeat the error.
