NAA Distributor seating

I pulled the distributor out of my NAA for the first time.

I can get it to go back in and can feel the shaft dropping into the slot on the oil pump drive. The oil pump is working.

However, the distributor is sitting proud of the seat on the block.

I have not tried to tighten up the bolts that hold it in place.

Can somebody with a NAA take a look at theirs to see if they have a gap as well?

Thanks,

Dave

Maybe I'm seeing things, but what is between the block and the distributor on the front side, under the hold down

no gap on my NAA's.
try again.
slot drive?
Pull the distributor up out, reach in there and turn the pump drive 180 degrees and put it back in.
Maybe it only likes one way, burr, etc.
With old cars, when I have the proper teeth meshed and it won't go all the way, I just bump the starter while [u:fc739aec9a]lightly[/u:fc739aec9a] pressing down

I took the easy way out.

I tightened down the hold downs....with just a bit of tension, there was a satisfying "clink" from somewhere deep inside the engine and the distributor is now fully seated.

Now if I could jest get this thing timed....sigh.

Thanks for the help!

Dave
