Can't have too many tractors. Right? (pics)

That's what I thought when I saw this one for sale.
1954 NAA according to the previous owner and nose badge.
Nearly dark when I got it home so I haven't checked the serial #.
Tires fair but the rears do not match. Two year old rear rims.
PTO and hydraulics work, has the newer piston pump.
Engine starts right up, no smoke, but there is a knock in the engine
or trans I need to find. None of the gauges work so I'll be
putting an OP gauge on it before I run it to investigate the knock.

Handle's broke, but pretty sure this is a combination Sherman.

Backblade came with it too. So did the lights and an I&T manual.
I'm almost afraid to tell, but I paid $500 for it all.

Man ill trade the 2n i bought for 400$ no nocks motor runs
good. I already have a 8n i sure would like more horse
power.and my wife cant say why do you need two of the
same tractor.

LOL no Bob, that was his asking price.
I didn't even try to talk him down.
It didn't last 30 minutes on Craigslist.
I was the first caller and he was nice enough
to hold if for a couple hours until I could get there.
That was long enough for me to come home from work,
get my trailer hooked up and get to his house.
He had owned it for 17 years and drove it on my trailer for me.

Actually, you can have too many tractors and you've exceeded your limit. Better drop that off at my house before anyone finds out! You can hide your new scoop there too.

Dang Scott, wish you had offered before I took it off the trailer! LOL
Now back to that storage issue..... again.

You should go turn your self in to the cops for steeling it. At that price you saw a sucker and took advantage of him LOL

Wow..... you should feel bad. If not for stealing that tractor then at least for bragging about it.

Really though, that's a great find, and with a Sherman to boot.

great find Royce.
Doesn't even look bad.
The knock wouldn't scare me none, you neither I bet.
(put your stethoscope on the hydraulic pump too, had a 841
that sounded like engine doom, was just the pump)

In my area too, there are no sub 1k Fords anymore...period.

On your storage, I wait for the tarp sale at valu, ya know a dollar or 2 each.
Double them up when you put the ropes on, they last a few years.
When they get thin, just add another $1 layer.
I got a few looks the last time they were on sale, when I bought 50 of em LOL

Nothing like finding an unexpected very good deal. That is a nice clean looking machine, well worth what it might take to make it excellent. Congratulations!

I'm pretty sure this came up on CL 15 miles from my house near Leslie, Michigan yesterday afternoon. Had no luck calling, my email came back undeliverable and then the listing was taken down. I thought it must have been bogus....

Royse, care to confirm or deny if this is the same deal? If so you must have beaten me to it by minutes.....

I think they are the same one.
He said I was the first to call and he took the ad down.
Emails would have been rejected after that.

Can't say I'm happy right now.... he was probably talking to you when I called, which is why it kept ringing forever.... unbelievable.

Nice buy!

Now you just have to work on training your wife. It takes time but she needs to understand that you one tractor, plus a spare for each implement. If needed buy more implements!

Rick

Happened to me the other way around a few weeks ago.
860 listed for $1000 OBO - no spark.
The guy that bought it said he bought it "just to make a couple
bucks". He said he put plugs in it. It was for sale on this site for
$3500 that afternoon. I really could have used that tractor.

And here I was feeling good about a 2N with one good tire, locked up motor, a woods finish mower, a scraper blade and 2 bottom plow I just brought home for $500....

Boy Royse - you sure are a buzz kill.

Hey, you bought some implements and they gave you a tractor
with a good tire! What's wrong with that?
