Finally sold the 8n we just painted. Of course the carb im going to have to rebuild again as its been sittin without much running since we've had it for sale...imagine that the only time I don't use stabil it gums up from sitting. So anyhow I had it listed for $3500 with the ferguson cultivator. A gentleman contacted us today and he has a 51 or 52 8n that was rebuilt 3-4 years ago but smokes now. He said it was resleeved....so i'd guess they did rings but maybe not...anyhow it was used at a golf course so im hoping maybe just stuck rings. Carries 40lbs oil pressure....so I kept the cultivator and hes paying 2700 for the tractor and we're taking his side mount 8n in trade. So I got a smoking side mount 8n with 1 new rear and the other is good for 500 and i'll sell the cultivator for 400....just what I needed another 8n. But its a sidemount and i'll probably keep this one for my 5 yr old.

Has that 8N been setting or in use?
If it has been setting, maybe the rings are just stuck.
Best of luck with it! :)

Well it's at a golf course so summer use only I'd
guess. I'm shocked with such a new rebuild it smokes
unless they didn't do rings. With that good of op I
would think rings? I said to my husband what are the
odds the carb is just not adjusted right...maybe
headgasket? I didn't ask what color smoke. Figured
I'd check it out when we get it home either wed or
Thursday. He really wanted my 5ft Erskine snowblower
but I wouldn't give it up.

$2700 + a trade in, and Royce gets an NAA with Sherman for $500. Congrats to both of you.

I txt a guy this am bout a 8n that needs rebuilt. Parts tractor to me, but looks really good, in pieces. Offered $500, he turned me down.

You guys (and gals) need to share these Jedi mind tricks.

Location, location, location.
Around here an 8N would bring $1700 on a good day. :(
That's what I sold this one for with the back blade.
Hood wasn't great, no lights, rears were the same size but didn't
match. It ran great, looked good and worked fine though.

(quoted from post at 05:31:35 08/29/14) That was a decent looking tractor. I bet
it would bring 2500 here.

Yea, our area too. Last year a friend picked up running 8N with a rear blade, nice finish mower and a snow blower for 1800 dollars. He had to put rear axle seals and brakes on it. I did a tune up for him and the dizzy needs bushings in the near future. Here he could flip the 8N for 1800, mower for another 800, blower for about 350 and blade for 150. He was going to stop bidding at 1500. I told him if he quit I was buying it. Didn't really want it but I could have sold the tractor and implements for 2500 in just a week, maybe two in a quick sale to get rid of it.
