Found this along side the road

The owner said I could have it for free, but he would charge me
$100 to load it. Sounded a bit steep, but I paid him anyway. ;)

Nice,

A poor boys front end loader,

I have one just like it, works great,

Be sure, if you are pushing backwards loading dirt
that you install your side stabilizers. Otherwise,
it can put a real strain on your lower arm check
chains.

I painted mine red as I was using it with my
ferguson.

I would not want to take that kind of money for
mine. They were very valuable tools before almost
everyone had a front end loader.

Nice find.

Maybe I'm just doing it wrong, but I've not been able to get much use at all outta my scoop...

What seems to be the trouble Tim? Won't dig?
Maybe just an adjustment on the top link to tilt it down.

Somebody put teeth on mine. Works great. As Royce said, top link adjustment makes a huge difference.
I moved a dirt pile in 4 hours that would have taken me weeks with shovel and wheelbarrow. Good for hauling firewood too.

nice find
I have its twin.
I traded away at least half dozen of the aftermarket ones
after selling a rusty, tag gone, Arps/Ford/Dearborn one (mistake)
Took a while, but I finally found that Ford branded 706.
They just seem to work better than the modern copies.

Great find! I'd like to get my hands on one for just a day or two to play with. Don't see how that could even compare with one of these.....the TLB not the cows

That's a really great find Royse! I looked long and hard for the Dearborn I bought and mine only scoops forward.

Nice score Royce!
I have that same scoop. I use it primarily for hauling rocks out of my deer plots.
Did you know they made those 706 scoops in different widths?
A few years ago I bought one on Ebay down in Lincoln NE.
From the pictures it was very clean, rust free, practically never used.
Got it pretty cheap, then paid a guy $100 to haul it up here to the Twin Cities.
When I finally got it I was totally disapointed as it was only about 16" wide. It was exactly the same as the bigger ones but toy size narrow.
I sold it at a consignment auction, got my $ back and kept looking for a normal sized one.
If you want to make one of those even more handy put a hydraulic top link on your tractor.

I have one of these. Moved a lot of dirt, gravel and rocks at the house we built about 24 yrs. ago. Used a '41 9N that was new to me at the time. Sure beats shovel and wheel barrow. Since I have a FEL on a new tractor, I might sell it some day, along with a 10-1 two-bottom plow. But not yet.

I have one too, have used it a lot over the years.

painted it red, guess as I use it on my TO-35 Ferguson tractor.

they are fine tools, would not want to take $100 for mine.

keep all those movement points greased or well lubed, if it has to set out as mine does.

Royce really nice find. Been looking for one for awhile but prices are to high and they are pretty beat up.

Now tell me what road you drive down?

I lucked out and got one like it for $40 at an
auction years ago. It worked really well and I made
good use of it. When I sold everything last month I
got $125 for it....from a guy who had come to look
at something else. He stood staring at it for a full
10 minutes and finally said "I've always wanted one"
and gave me the money. Oh, he also bought the other
thing he came for initially, but I can't remember
what it was now.

I did not know they made them in different widths. Good info!
I'll have to measure this one. Looks to be at least 24 inches wide.

I've got an opportunity to pick up a scoop like the ones shown in this thread and also (from another seller) one of a different design. The other one has a curved "spine" running from front to back that has a connection point for the top link at one end for use when pulling the scoop forward and a connection point in the middle of the spine for use when backing into a pile. Is there a good reason to choose one over the other? I know the obvious answer is BOTH, but I've got a baby on the way (a first!) so I'm trying to rein in my spending.

Hopefully I've described the second scoop well enough. I'm not sure who manufactured it but I'll be looking at it this afternoon.

I have one on the tractor came with the tractor but wasn't on it and thy didn't know what it was. I use it all the time for a loader until I get my hydraulics up and running. great bucket just needs a hydraulic top link.

I use mine as a loader, at least until I get all my hydraulic parts and the Bucket back on the Dearborn 19-21. Works great as a scoop forwards or back and hauls a lot of things here. Came with the 9N when I bought it, loader and the scoop.
