Hydraulic lift piston washer - confused

Rebuilding my 8N hydraulics and per advice on here, I ordered a new style piston NAA530B it recommended O-Ring NAA533A and back up washer NAA473A, both of which I ordered. So I think I have everything. However, now I'm confused I have two O-rings with one slightly thicker than the other. I've got a black leather ring and a separate ring that seems like its not leather, but something man-made and black on one side.
How does all this go on the piston? One of the posts on hydraulics here mentioned "Install the CNH neoprene washer w/ the concave side toward the “O” ring." which doesn't seem to describe what I have. Help!

Backup rings are available in flat and contour designs. Contour designs tend to work a bit better but either will work satisfactorily in your application. You should be using one o-ring and one backup-ring. The backup ring is placed opposite the pressure side of the o-ring.

(quoted from post at 21:43:30 08/24/14) Thanks THO!!

Make sure the bore is bright and polished. any scoring or roughness will tear up the o ring. O rings like a mirror finish.

To go along with that, over the years in ordering backup rings I have received 3 different styles.

Tan leather, smooth and less smooth sides

Grey leather, less smooth side and smooth side faced with shiney black rubber? ( nitrile?)

Both of those were flat

Have also got the cup shaped rubber ones
