Lisa was kind enough to offer me one at a very agreeable price. They went and pulled it after work on Monday and sent it that evening. It arrived yesterday and the tractor is again usable.

nice pictures but how do you tell good hub from a bad hub, they look the same to me. are the teeth smaller or worn on one? is that where the wear occurs.

" but how do you tell good hub from a bad hub,"

The teeth will be worn & rounded in the old hub.

That being said.....

The pic shows the best way to tell if you have a bad hub: the axle extends past the hub.

That's a no-go.

Bob what you need to take a close look at is the width of the raised splines in both pictures. The bad one is about 1/16th or a little more narrower than the other one. I noticed something was wrong when I took it apart and there were all these metal flakes. It look s to me like someone tried shimming it with tin foil.
