I picked this tool up at a garage sale last
weekend. I have no idea what it is used for. It
is called a Monkey Grip made in the USA. That's
all I know, you guys got any ideas?

that was used to apply hot patches to inner tubes.
back in the day, I used one a lot.
Now you can"t find inner tubes or patches around here. another sign of progress.

Monkey Grip is a trade mark of Victor tire repair equipment. My guess is a clamp for applying patches to tubes.

TOH

aztractor, now that makes sense to me also. Leave it to me to buy a tool that's obsolete, probably has no use. Again thanks

Funny you asked. I was just this past weekend patching a tube and got to wounding if anyone still made the Hot Patches. Guess my question has been answered.

Cracking walnuts ? Get it chromed and mount it to your living room coffee table.

Yep. Hot patch clamp. Used one like that while growing up working for my Grandfather in his garage. Wish I had one just to hang on the wall just so people would ask what it was for.lol

What do you mean "of no use?" Mount that on one of your fenders and it will hold your Ham and Cheese sandwich perfectly intact for lunch time when you are tractoring.

okay, okay,I believe you all it is a hot patch clamp, thank you all. Not sure if I'm going to use it as a nutcracker or a lunch pail but for $2 I think I got a deal, again thank all of you for your comments.

Who knows? There may come a day when you'll discover that it's just the right tool for clamping or holding something.

I'd have bought it in a hot minute myself. That old rule of "I might be able to use that someday" can include a whole bunch of stuff. I know I've got a lot of that stuff.

I've got one very similar in my daddy's old shop that he used many moons ago. And Blitz, what you been eating/drinking/smoking to come up with that neat answer!? Told my wife and I thought she'd pee herself!!
