I can't remember if I posted this photo or not. I took it in late July just before seeding oats into the open ground. The cows like to keep my company when I'm working around them. In the very far background you can just make out our sheep and beehives.

HMMM don't remember seeing that one. Good shot though!

I'll be sending you a message on the face place in a day or 2. I need to talk to you.

The cows look like they are plotting... might wann watch your back.
How did that disc work on that ground? I have some really rough stuff in an area where I was "learning" to plow, and I'm gonna have to do something with it sooner or later. I haven't decided if I want to use the disc or drag the cultivator through it a few times.

Looks like you are doing a good job. But I think I would had sprayed the area with a weed killer first, Any reason you didn't?

My family operates one of the oldest organic farms in the area. So no herbicides. A moldboard plow and 4 passes with the disk (once a week for 4 weeks) and there was no grass left. A crop of grazing oats will finish off whatever is left of the grass and weeds.

If I remember correctly, this is a week after I moldboard plowed it. I made a pass through the field once per week until the first week of August (4 weeks). Everything was nice and smooth after those those 4 passes.

Nice picture!
It can be a rough ride can't it?
I like to disk mine cross-wise and diagonally to
help break it up some, but not the first pass! :)

Good looking tractor! How'd those shields work for you? Thinking maybe I should find another cultivator and put the other set on and pair it up with the 9n we plan to restore sometime.

And nicely done!

Ran out of time last winter (new baby and a bathroom remodel) so I didn't get to the cultivator. This fall or winter, though! :)

I wouldn't want to go cross wise either on the first pass! This was such a narrow strip - only 1/3rd acre, that going length wise made the most sense. Less turning :)
