well i was going to brush hog 9 acres today here on the place, but now i get to go down the hiway to see what might be a N, friend tells me it has a flathead engine, [ if he knows what a flathead is] it will pop on starting fluid but wont run, has gas to the carb and fire to the plugs he says, theyve been tinkering with it for 2 days, goody! im hoping to save myself by findingthe fireing order of the plug wires wrong but who knows , im not 100% sure were even working on a N

Not sure what your question is here. Are you looking for help to get this running?

"im not 100% sure were even working on a N" isn"t a real endearing comment for the guys who will have the answers.

I took it to mean he was going to help someone with something, maybe an N. No questions asked!

was a 1952 8n, actually pretty clean and original, these guys dont know anything about old tractors, so anything pre 1965 is a N to them,i was leery of it as the man also has a 4000, which was split in half for a clutch job by somebody....8 years ago... meanwhile 3 kids have most of the small pieces of that one hauled off to places unknow, and he wanted me at one time to fix that one, i declined, as for the n turned out all it needed was the carb cleaned from old gas, and adjusted, [ after they "adjusted" it ] its running good now, i too just love getting a call stating we think it might be a ford 8n, we think it has a flathead engine, and weve been working on it for 2 days and it wont run, this time of year i dont have time for a tractor that has been worked on by people who know nothing at all about it when it probably only needed something minor to get it running, all turned out well this time, im pretty good with them, all except mine which seem to always have some totally unique problem instead of the usual easy to fix problems that old tractors have
