Valve seat grinding stones

We"ve got an old Snap-On VG 120 seat grinding set that we want to grind the seats on a 9n engine we"re rebuilding, the book calls for a SE520 (1 5/8") stone to be used but all we have in the set is a SE525 (1 11/16"). Does anyone know a source for a stone that will work on these snap on sets? Or better yet... will the 1 11/16" stone be ok? Thanks Dan

The angle of the stone must match the angle of the seat????/

The 1-11/16 width would probably be OK

As long as there is physical clearance for the larger stone, there's no reason it won't work.

Do you have a wheel dresser with that grinder? its a good idea to dress the wheel first to make sure the stone is centered with the pilot.

Ypop...I hadn't thought of that, I do have the dresser and will check the stone for center...thanks Dan

Greg...The seats are in pretty good shape and well below the max width of .125...I'm new to this but I believe this means I don't need to cut the top and bottom...Dan

Over the years I have done valves on just about everything from a 3hp. Briggs to a 8000hp. Blown fuel hydroplane and always did a top and bottom cut to get the proper seat width and height. I wish you luck.
