Ok state 8n

New User
I have a problem with my 49 8n. When I try to go to full throttle the govner idles it back down immediately. It will only run at about 1/4 throttle anyone have any ideas what might be wrong. I'm pretty new to the tractor game. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

See tip # 14 to check the governor.

In order of probability, your problem is:

1.The linkage (ie, it's slipping, binding, or the throttle plate on the dash is worn, etc)

2. Carb/fuel issues

Disconnect the governor from the carb & manually throttle up the carb. What happens?

I just put a new carb on it. The throttle plate looks pretty worn should it feel like I am fighting the govner to accelerate. I will try disconnecting the govner linkage and see what happens. This problem came out of nowhere was working fine then next time I had this problem before I replaced the carb so the linkage was hooked up and working at one point. Thanks for the help I will let you know

Might check the gov compensating spring behind/below dash.
