I got a manifold for a 8n I'm slowly working on in my spare time. Yesterday I was just hanging out in the garage and decided to put it on. That's when I found out that a socket will not fit threw the manifold to get the two nuts in the center. I bought it so long ago I cant even remember where I bought it from.

Are you using the correct brass nuts for the manifold?
Steel ones that size take a larger socket and it will not fit.
At least that was my experience trying to get the wrong
nuts off a couple of the tractors I have bought.

I got brass nuts with the manifold but you got me thinking.
Ill have to check on my 2N if the nuts are the same size. I
was using a 11/16 socket on the new one. I tryed that
socket on my 2N and the socket went threw but I didn't
take note if its the same size.. Thanks!!! Ill let you know
what I find

It has been a while since I posted guys but read the threads faithfully. I had the same issue with my manifold and thin wall socket is what I used to get inside the casting.

As others have said, seems to be a common issue with aftermarket parts. I ground down a old socket to use for that purpose.

Had the same problem with the last manifold I installed. I have enough different sockets sets that I was able to find one that would work.
