whats a monroe ez-ride seat for an N worth?

There is a guy near me that has what looks like a 2N mutt (mostly 2n with some 8n) and it has a monroe seat. was going to possibly offer him $$ for just the seat for my 8n

That seat will not fit on an 8N without significant
modification. John Korschot did one. He documents it
in his web site.

well im not sure if this is a true 9n seat, or an 8n seat modified for a 9n. on Johns site he shows the 9n seat having the long shock in the rear. this tractor has the short shock in the front, which is 8n.

anyway, whats the value?

I don't know if you can zoom in on the photo but the tractor just to the front left side of the primered....is that the same seat your talking about? This one has the short one in the front and its on a 9 or 2n

Monroe made seats for the 9N and 8N but they have
different mounting brackets. A seat on a 9N will not
fit an 8N without making new brackets.

jesus H Chr*st. I know this already.

not to be rude, but would you either answer the questions I asked as to value, or shut up? I dont need you to continue to tell me something I already know.

Lisa- I can't zoom in enough to get a good look.

I'm waiting for pics from the seller. again here are my questions:
1- what is the value of a seat?
2- did the 9n seat have the large shock in the rear, and the 8n have the short shock in the front? or could it be either way?

please dont reply and tell me how the brackets are different

From what I've read the shorter shock in the front
is for the 8n model and the longer shock to the back
is 9/2n. I have no idea on value. If I were buying a
used on I might pay 50 or so if it was in good
working condition.

(quoted from post at 18:11:32 08/08/14) $25-50.
That is a much more polite answer than I probably would have
posted to such a rude comment. I appreciate you sharing your
knowledge of these old Fords with us.

Mr. Cooke,

Good thing you're not thin-skinned like my friends tell me I am. :)

but hey, you must be a wise man.
One of the lines by the Travelling Wilburys that Orbison sings is:
"The best you can do is forgive."

So go to the head of the class Harold.

They are not that valuable. I see them all the time. I wouldn't pay more than 20 bucks for one. Why? They are limited to a certain weight class -like 150 pounds. Go to the 'other site' and look up the original sales brochure. For us guys who peg the scales at 250 or so need the later Rest-O-Ride seats that were standard on the Hundred Series tractors. Those utilize the original pan seat. By the way, no need to use the Lord's name in vain.

Monroe made aftermarket seats for many, many different brands of tractors. Seems like most of them ended up on Farmall tractors, but I've seen them on earlier 2 cylinder John Deeres, Massey-Harris, and yes, Ford Ns. The Monroe seat with the long shock at the rear is the earlier version, and probably is what would have been available for the 9n, and maybe even 2n. The seat with the shorter shock in the middle would most likely be found on the 8n.

Replacement shock absorbers of BOTH the long and short variety are somewhat pricey, and a replacement tapered coil spring is not super cheap either. I would guess that a Monroe seat with BOTH a GOOD shock and GOOD coil spring could easily be worth $100.
