I got my father-in-laws 9n and the hydraulic just dopped. Cleaned the hydraulic area and pump and now works fine - had gunk caked all in the are - some gunk stopped up the pump - found out it has not been cleaned in years - just added fluid. How often should this fluid be changed out and area cleaned?

Some folks believe in an annual fluid change. Crankcase, tranny and hydraulics. Others wait until the hydraulic system fails to do the tranny and hydraulics. You might consider preventative maintenance especially if the machine is stored outdoors.

John, thanks for the help. It is stored in a combine barn open on one side. I have always liked preventive - it helps down the road. This wasn't fun - caked on so bad it was dry in some areas.
