Our 9N was converted from 6V to 12V before we bought it. Whoever did the conversion went the cheap route and sourced an alternator on their own, rather than buying a kit. They must have rummaged around the shop for a suitable bracket, because what they came up with was a right-angle bracket which really doesn"t fit well. The bracket can"t be rotated sufficiently without the "elbow" banging into the underside of the cowling, and the belt is too big even when using the furthest attachment point.

We"ve tried to find a 9N-specific alternator bracket for the 12V conversion through the various N-series catalogs, but we"ve only found the kits. Since we already have the alternator, that seems a waste. Going through the auto parts supply catalogs, we can buy a racy chrome bracket which fits, for 10x the cost of something dull and ordinary. Thanks but we don"t need a chromed alternator bracket for a working farm tractor.

Does anyone have a spare bracket that we could buy for some reasonable cost? Failing that, does anyone have the measurements so that we can fab our own? Thanks all.

Well, now, isn't that handy! Somehow I'd missed that possibility, but glad to see that option. Thanks for the suggestion to look right under my nose!
