Leather Piston cups. Dearborn Loader 19-71 Bucket cylinder

Time to rebuild the other bucket cylinder. Last time bought all the parts from Messicks. The Leather piston cups p/n 86597893 were $37 each (need 2) which I thought was very high. Item 15 in the URL below. Im going to skip any of the other metal parts such as the gland since they were perfect in the other cylinder and I just wasted money replacing them. About $165 in all.

This time I was doing some searching and I found general leather piston cups for much less but do not know what exactly to look for or where best to look at. The cups are 1"ID x 2"OD.
I lucked out with the V-packing which I found on ebay for less than $10 with free shipping so I saved over $40

Anyone point me to a good supply source and what to exactly ask for.
Thanks

Give Baum Hydraulics in Omaha a call, with dimensions.

I"m gonna GUESS they"ll update you to some more modern, high-tech cups.

Messicks price is absurd. I would get two of these: [u:ec14862856]Hydraulic Cylinder Cups @ McMaster[/u:ec14862856]

You will need to enlarge the center hole which is no big deal and McMaster also sells the packing.

An alternative source for cups with a 1" center hole would be: [u:ec14862856]Hydraulic Piston Cups @ Hercules[/u:ec14862856]

Hoke...This was the exact same thing that I was looking at on the McMasters site. Hobo got me hooked on that site and they seem to have everything at fair prices.
The only question I had was that the cup is rated for 1000psi. I know for a fact that my pump can put out at 2200psi. What are your thoughts???

I noticed that and it seems strange. I edited my post to include a link to Hercules. Their cups are the same material and they say they are good to 2500 PSI. The relief cartridge in your control valve limits maximum system pressure to 2000 PSI which is still higher than the 1750 maximum specified for the old Wagner loaders.

I purchased my cups local (syracuse NY) for about same $ as Hercules however they came W/O a center hole which I added with a woodworking spade bit. I prob would have gone with Hercules as hole already there for less $ but too late now.
The part on TOH link shows 2200PSI.
I have a Dearborn 19-61 FEL and have no more problems.
I replaced V packing at same time W/O even removing cyl from loader.

Thanks for the replies.
The cups are about 1/4 of the price of New Holland's price so I am sure this is where I will be ordering them. I want to see if I can match up the wiper also.

I will be ordering some other v Packing seals from McMasters as they are much cheaper than Hercules.

I'm running a dearborn 19-71 and also left the cylinder mounted up to the bucket when I rebuilt the first cylinder. Gave me a leverage point when I took a pipe wrench to it.

Took about 15 minutes to rebuild right after I had to clean myself up cause I decided to push the rod back into the oil filled cylinder and the cylinder hose fitting was point right at me.

Hey, if you still get on here. What info do you have (if any still) on the v-packing seals you used?

I'm looking at some from McMaster-carr. I'm not certain on which size I should purchase per what they offer. The rod is 1", yet the OD of my v-packing seals are approx 1-3/8", and the bore they go into is that size. The seals offered for a 1" ID have a 1-1/2" OD, and I know the OD will be too big. If you select a seal with a 1-3/8" OD, the ID is 7/8". So I'm sure the leather seal with stretch to the 1" but I was considering saving a bit of money and getting the PTFE seals. The remaining seals I seem to have a good selection on from McMaster-carr.

Any other input is good too. I believe my loader is a 19-71 dearborn...I don't remember the tag off hand, but I'm working on rebuilding the tilt cylinders. 2" cylinder, 1" rod.

Thanks
