8n 3 pt. uses

in not a farmer but have an 8n I have stabilizer bars, bars that maintain tow bar height and a bar with threads that goes from pin on top of rear end and has handle that adjusts height of equipment but don't know name of it or what pieces of equipt. it would be used on, is there a blog with pictures of hookups for different equipment normally used on 8ns. also the tow bar pulling a trailer with a two inch ball would seem to me to want to turn and put a lot of pressure on the trailers socket in the back where the metal piece that holds trailer socket on ball, seems like tow bar would tend to twist, is this way of towing ok,

Bob, Welcome to the forum. The threaded bar with handles is called the top link. The threads are used to adjust the front to back angle of various pieces of equipment.

What kind of equipment are you interested in using? Any cat II 3pt equipment or trailer type hitch is possible as long as it's within the horse power range of the N.

probably only use rear mower , bush hog?, and rear blade, and the bucket that came with and mounts on back it drags up dirt lifts and trips to drop it, although living in burns will probably sell bucket it looks brand new but I cant see a use for it for me.

Bob, when you are talking about the tow bar, I think you mean
the 11 hole drawbar that goes between the 3 pt lift arms.
Looks like this:

It is Ok to tow light loads from this, but they can be difficult to
back up without your sway bars installed because it swings sideways.
It may also try to raise without those stay bars you have.
There are numerous kinds of locks made to keep this from turning
because as you suspected, it will want to do exactly that.
You can find some of them in the "hitch" section of YT parts.

"a bar with threads that goes from pin on top of rear end and has handle that adjusts"
This sounds like the top link to me. It is not used to adjust height,
but rather the tilt of the implement. The 3 pt hitch itself adjusts
the height.
Similar to this aftermarket one:

Your 8N has the ability to have a standard, solid drawbar too.
If you don't already have parts of it there, YT sells the whole thing.
Here's a link to that: Swinging Drawbar

Please feel free to ask questions and post pictures if needed!

Bob, before you get rid of that bucket, you might consider if you have use for a "mechanized" wheel barrow. When hooked up with the digging edge toward the rear, it is mighty handy for moving small but heavy objects such as rocks and bricks.

Colin for my own sake, did you mean Cat 1 or Cat 2. I always thought that the 8N's were geared for Cat 1 Connections and Implements.

Greywolf, You're absolutely right. Apologies for the error. I was confusing Cat 0 on lawn tractors with Cat I.

Bob, Sounds like you have a nice set of equipment. For the bucket and back blade, just hook them up and play around with them. Get a feel for how the tractor works and what the implements can do. I agree that that bucket is worth hanging on to. I don't have one, but sure wish I did.

For the mower, you want to get something called an over-running coupler (commonly called ORCs). This will improve the safety of mowing with the non-live PTO equipped N tractor. An ORC can be purchased through this site or at a good farm hardware store.

Good luck!

Welcome to the board.

You got good info from the others here.

Wolf what do you want to play with? I have a 35 gallon sprayer set up on a CAT1 mount, rear blade, 3 point corn planter, plow, disk, 2 cultivators, one set up to cultivate and the other as a field cultivator, finish and brush mowers, post hole auger and a subsoiler for my N's. I've got a loader on my big tractor for moving bales and a tractor loader backhoe too. :)
