Rodeo man

I bought this little 8n about a month ago. I had been wanting one for years. I was just driving down the road, a couple of counties over, and saw it for sale on the side of the road. The story goes that the mans neighbor inhereted it, and had no use for it. The gentleman I purchased it from, seemed like a trader. I'm not sure how reliable that story is. I have $1500 for it, and 5ft rotary cutter. The serial number makes it to be a 52 model. It appears to be mostly original. One head light, is slightly different than the other, but is obviously pretty old. The latch on the battery cover is not original. The sheet metal seem perfect, and appears to not have any body filler in it. I am ashamed to say that I am a farmer, and have very little mechanical ability. I have had the alternator rebuilt, and replaced the sedement bulb, and fuel line. The tires look they are in really good shape. It has actually became my go to tractor, if I think it will do the job. The rotary cutter can be adjusted down to mow almost as close as my lawn mower. I have been using it to shine around my barns, instead of wearing out my mower. It is also great to pull a little cultivator with to work my arena. I would like to really restore it, but I'm afraid I wouldn't want to use it any more.

Sweet photo!

Just keeping on being a farmer, and keeping the tractor from rusting would be time wisely spent.

I'm 43, so I grew up with fairly modern equipment. We had a super A, and an H. To plow tobacco with. I had never ran an N before. It took part of an afternoon to get aclamated to it. I have 3 children. Two 9 year olds, and a 7 year old. They can't really depress the clutches on the tractors that I already had. They can drive the little N just fine. There is also no big awkward FEL for them to deal with either.

Welcome to the "club"!
When are you getting the next one? LOL
Very nice looking tractor. Congratulations!

I hope I can stop at one. It doesn't take up too much space in my equipment shed. I like that a lot.

nice tractor
and a very good deal on a late 8N with good tires, and a mower.
Looks fine to me just like it is.
Capability wise...about like the Super A....with the added bonus of a 3-point.
N's are very handy to have around, they do lots of things well.
Like the other posters say, once you have an N, the thought starts to creep in......with this N so handy maybe a 600-800
that is about the same, but with a little more power and live hydraulics....pretty soon your barn is full of red and grey.......

Nice tractor, great photo, and good deal. I would
use it like it is. Warning - they can be addictive.
I have three 8Ns, 5 9/2Ns and one 601.

Nice looking N. But be forewarned one is not enough. Between my father and I we have 6 N series tractors and I will buy another one at anytime if the price is right lol

Actually, as hobbies goe, the 8n fever is not that bad. Mine should be worth what I gave for it for years to come.

"Mine should be worth what I gave for it for years to come."

I agree. Tractor prices have been dropping for years, but a good
running, decent looking N with a mower for $1500? Good deal.

What does a riding mower cost? Where will it be in 62 years?

Very nice tractor and photo of your young-in. That tractor dont need restored, just use it and make sure you teach the young-in the proper use of the equipment.

Congrads.

The very first vehicle I ever drove by myself was a 1952 8N. I was 4 years old and remember it like yesterday. That was almost 60 years ago. I have a '52 8N that I could not run my farm without. In 13 years I have put 330 hours on it.

How many gallons is that tank Rodeo?
Consider the weight compared to the weight of the
tractor and how good your brakes are.
I sure wouldn't have it hooked to the 3 pt.
There's a solid drawbar available for the 8N.

I stop filling at 120 gallons, so well over a 1000 pounds total. It is loaded towards the front, and scotched so it won't move. I wish I had a drawbar for it. I do more pulling than anything else.
