I didn't want to sidetrack Tim23's tractor thread, so I started a new one.
Now that you mention him, THAT Randy was here the other day too!

He said I need to start my '78 F250 more often or put gas in the
carb when I try instead of relying on the mechanical fuel pump. LOL

Not doing too bad now, just needs to get out and stretch his legs.
He's a little short on one end. Not sure which one though......

I have see a few engines ruined on those style trucks by water dripping from the cowl onto the air cleaner lid and going down the stud were the air cleaner wing nut retains it... Make sure it has a seal on the nut and the lid is not rusty thru. On mine I replace the original with a aftermarket cleaner that's not as big around so water will miss it.. It did take some farmerization

Thanks for the tip Hobo!
Air cleaner is in good shape on this one.
I'll check to make sure that seal is there though.

I've got one of them. Good trucks. Mine now has a '79 body due to
a a little roll over. Mine is a 4x4. Can be had to fine parts for the
front end. Guess they didn't make a lots of them. Also mine has a
'76 rear end. Needs a new hud. Brakes are 2 inches. Not many of
them neither. Most are 2.5 inches wide.

You think you've got troubles Royse!
I woke up one morning to find the little '56 Austin squaring off against the Cornbinder from hell. :p

I know what you mean by all the cranking to get fuel happening. I put an electric pump in the International but the fuel still gets routed trough the old pump, so I still have a sediment bowl and screen in action.

Here's a shot of my air cleaner lid Hobo.
Rubber seal in place all around the inside of the lip
and it has a rubber washer under the washered wing nut.

So Tall T, which one won? My money's on the heavy weight,
but there's always a David and Goliath story out there! ;)

You guessed it . . . David and Behemoth.

Austin '56, Goliath '54 :D

P.S.
Last time I connected with the reknown Batterydown, he suggested something Rube Goldberg would have been proud of -- a priming cup for my '51 chev, so I wouldn't have to take off the engine cover and intake pipe to prime the carb after a long sit. :D

I had to build that air intake system for the truck because I didn't have the updraft carb that it came with.
